Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin laminates of porcelain that blend with the natural enamel of the teeth that can then allow light to pass through, giving the veneers a natural appearance. Many people elect to whiten their teeth prior to getting veneers in order to achieve the best results. Veneers are a fairly conservative restoration used to restore natural teeth.

Veneers are most often applied over the front teeth to correct discoloration, severe cracks, chips, and wear as well as the alignment of the teeth. Veneers are the ideal treatment choice to restore the teeth to their natural appearance. Veneers can also cover up significant stains such as those caused by tetracycline. As we age, wear of the front teeth may affect the aesthetics of our smile and result in us appearing older than we actually are. Porcelain veneers may be used to lengthen worn or short teeth and restore you to your natural and youthful smile.

Placement of the veneer requires two appointments with Dr. Ghorab. During the first appointment, a small amount of the outer surface of the tooth will be removed in order for a veneer to be placed, then a shade is chosen and acrylic temporaries are placed until the next appointment. An impression of your teeth is taken to create your custom porcelain veneer. Using the impression, a dental laboratory will fabricate the final veneer to the proper size, shape, and color. In the second appointment, the veneers’ shape and color are verified and then Dr. Ghorab will bond the veneer onto the tooth for optimal aesthetic results.
